The Courtyard is a great place for bold and bright colors and shapes. The garden along Franklin Street and under the Courtyard sign are eye-catching but low maintenance. Part of the interior courtyard is shade garden with masses of ferns and evergreens, and part is perennials, annuals, and flowering shrubs, including heirloom roses. Walking through is always a treat, and we've received many compliments from people on their way to lunch at Pyewacket!

In 1998 the owners of the Courtyard and Spring Branch Landscapes received best Commercial Landscaping award from the City of Chapel Hill's Community Design Commission. Recognizing "the richness of this landscape" the award read: "Walking from Franklin through the center court to the parking area beyond one continually experiences spaces that are a kaleidoscope of texture, plant varieties and forms."
