We
began working with the Nicholsons before this site was cleared.
The owner is a painter and decorator who wanted a French country
garden. The form of the garden is created with allees of American
Hornbeam, Japanese Flowering Apricot, white Natchez Crape Myrtles
and Crabapple 'Adirondack', and holly parterres which hold in
check a riot of old roses, perennials, annuals, and flowering
shrubs.
The
Nicholson garden was featured in the July 9, 2001 issue of Mary
Engelbreit's Home Companion.
